While attending Pacific Hills church (1989 – 1998), Norm became involved in ministry, among other duties, he oversaw the Marriage Fellowship, and pre-marriage counselling, assisted by his wife. In 1998 he answered the call to help plant and pastor a Calvary Chapel affiliate church in North Carolina where he remained for the next 13 years. During this time Norm served as a Chaplin with the local Sheriffs Dept. and was involved in various short term mission trips, both national and international, including multi-church trips to Israel. It was also during this time, by God’s grace, Norm continued to grow in his theology in a decidedly reformed direction, attending seminars and conferences, such as R. C. Sproul (Ligonier Ministries) and Shephard Conferences held by John MacArthur. Norm and his wife joined and settled into Grace Church in 2018 and served as a Deacon before being called to Eldership, where he considers it a privilege to serve this local body of Christ.
The Apostles created the office of deacon in the early church to be ministers of God’s mercy to the poor and afflicted in the church. As stewards of the resources God entrusts to the church, the board of deacons is responsible for distributing those resources to those who are in need within the church here at Grace and also to our brothers and sisters elsewhere in the world. Because the Scriptures give great place to the caring of the poor and needy (Psalm 41:1, 1 John 3:17,18) the deaconate at Grace Church serves an important and biblical role as representatives of God’s mercy and grace.
Our current deacons are: Mark Goddard, Bill Barto, Carlos Reyes, Dan Morgigno, Chris Goegan, Ken Dilitkanich, and Norm Mathison.
If you have any questions or require assistance please feel reach out to any of the deacons or contact the church office.
